About Big Lake Media

I started Big Lake Media with the idea that everybody should  have the opportunity to have their stories told through video. With that in mind, I want to be able to offer an affordable option to the Upper Peninsula community for videography of important events. This is not to take anything away from the other phenomenal videographers and video production companies in the U.P. They do amazing work and are great people. Unfortunately, not everybody can afford their rates, and I want to be a complimentary service in the area to make sure everybody has the same opportunity to tell their stories.

I began in videography over 20 years ago, sprouting from a love for capturing family events and our sons' sports highlights. The joy of immortalizing these precious moments was unparalleled. This enthusiasm led to filming my sister-in-law's wedding in 2003 on a personal "handycam," and despite the primitive editing methods of VCRs and VHS tapes back then, I was able to gift them a cherished wedding film.

The evolution from VHS-C to Mini-DV tapes, and finally to digital video, has paralleled my journey. The transformative role I played as part of the U.S. Army Public Affairs career field deepened that fondness for creating video products. However, for a while, the camera was set aside.

But the flame was rekindled recently when I came upon that 20-year-old wedding video. Modernizing it with today's technology and techniques as an anniversary gift for my sister-in-law made me realize how profoundly I missed this art.

Today, Big Lake Media stands at the edge of an exciting journey, eager to offer video services to those seeking an affordable alternative for documenting their family or business events, special days, sporting events, or music performances. If you have a moment worth capturing, I am are here to listen, discuss, and transform it into a timeless visual narrative. Let's create the best video or film possible, together.

I’m always looking for the next adventure, so if you have an idea and would like to collaborate with me, please get in touch.
